Like most urban centers, OMR Road has its own home-grown problems – filthy Roads, damaged infrastructure, dog poop, noise pollution, speeding bikes, and waning green patches. But local residents have been known for their community cohesion and instead of individually complaining to local authorities, residents have found hyperlocal ways to take on responsibility, resolve gripes and improve our locality together. While the popularity of community organising has only grown in the city, the past year saw civil society action groups emerge as a long-term force to be reckoned with.
Citizens Action Network that has been encouraging responsiveness among Mumbaikars on how to keep their neighbourhoods safe, live healthy and become smarter citizens believes that citizen involvement in governance is the way forward.
As people from OMr we will take the above seriously and will gradually unite to form a citizens network of active participants, who every now and often gather to address the issues we face in our community, reperesent the community, be the face of it.
