About Sri Angala Parameswari Amman
Sri Angala Parameswari Amman, also worshipped as Angalamman in many parts of Tamil Nadu, holds a deep place in Tamil devotional culture. She is traditionally revered as a powerful mother goddess, protector of families, guardian of villages and remover of obstacles.
In Tamil spiritual tradition, Amman worship is closely connected with the everyday lives of people. Temples dedicated to Amman are not only places of prayer, but also centres of community gathering, seasonal festivals, vows, offerings, family rituals and local cultural memory.
Angala Parameswari Amman is worshipped by many Tamil families as their Kuladeivam, the ancestral family deity believed to protect generations of a lineage. For many devotees, worshipping the Kuladeivam is not merely a ritual practice but a continuation of family identity. Families return to their ancestral deity during major life events such as marriages, childbirth, housewarming ceremonies and thanksgiving prayers.
The upcoming Maha Kumbabishekam at the Seevaram Sri Angala Parameswari Amman Temple therefore carries both spiritual and cultural importance. It marks the renewal of the temple’s sacred energy and gives devotees, local residents and families connected to the temple an opportunity to come together in prayer, gratitude and community participation.
