28.3 Lakh Voters in Chennai for 2026 Assembly Elections: Final Electoral Roll After SIR

28.3 Lakh Voters in Chennai for 2026 Assembly Elections: Final Electoral Roll After SIR

Chennai: A total of 28.3 lakh voters will be eligible to vote in the 2026 assembly elections as per the final electoral roll released by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on Monday after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). One-third of city voters' names were deleted from the previous roll, which was frozen at 40 lakh voters in October 2025.

GCC Commissioner J Kumaragurubaran released the final roll. The total electorate increased by 2,51,260 compared to the draft roll published on 19 December. The draft roll had listed 25,79,676 voters (12,47,690 men, 13,31,243 women, 743 third-gender). In the final roll, 28,30,936 voters are enrolled across 4,079 polling stations: 13,65,763 men, 14,64,344 women, and 829 third-gender voters.

Additions and Deletions After Draft Roll

A total of 2,70,573 voters were newly added (1,27,418 men, 1,43,053 women, 102 third-gender). After special camps following the draft roll, 19,313 names were deleted (9,345 men, 9,952 women, 16 third-gender).

Constituency-wise: Chennai and OMR

In Chennai, Perambur had the highest number of voters at 2,22,792, followed by Velachery with 2,11,691. Harbour had the lowest at 1,16,896, followed by Egmore at 1,34,879.

At the state level, Sholinganallur constituency (Chengalpet district)—which covers a large part of the OMR corridor—had the highest number of voters in the state at 5.36 lakh (2.62 lakh men, 2.74 lakh women). Avadi in Tiruvallur followed with 4.28 lakh voters (2.09 lakh men, 2.19 lakh women).

Check your name in the final roll
• Go to electoralsearch.eci.gov.in (Election Commission of India)
• Enter your name or EPIC (Voter ID) number and click Search
• If your name appears, it is in the final roll
• Or visit eci.gov.in, click ‘‘Search your name in e-roll’’ and narrow search by name, EPIC number, or mobile number
• You can download your booth slip; new voters can apply via Form 6 for the next draft roll after the elections

What This Means for OMR Residents

If you live or work along OMR and are in the Sholinganallur assembly segment, your constituency has the largest electorate in Tamil Nadu. Ensuring your name is on the final roll and knowing your polling station and BLO helps you vote without hassle in 2026.
